Dear Tony Voss,
Noticed you had a couple of Blounts on your genealogical pages. Thought you might be interested in the following. Regards. Dennis Blount.

William Simpson Blount:
Entry in Maidstone & Kentish Journal 20/06/1843:
"GREENWICH- Suicide of Captain Wm Simpson Blount RN - Friday morning, one of the most distressing suicides which has ever occurred in this district took place at Greenwich. About half-past eleven o'clock, an alarm was given that the gentleman above-mentioned, who resided at No 6, Woodland terrace, Trafalgar road, Greenwich, had committed suicide by shooting himself. One of the servants heard the report of a pistol in the house, and went to the water-closet and there saw the deceased in a sitting posture, completely doubled up - two pistols lying on the floor, and a pool of blood streaming under the door. Immediatly on the alarm being given the police went in and assisted in removing the unfortunate man, but he was beyond all mortal aid, his head being so shattered that his features could not be recognised. The lady of the deceased is the daughter of Captain Clavel, also of the royal navy, residing in Greenwich Hospital. She had gone out for a walk with five children, and visited her father. The heart rending intelligence was conveyed to Captain Clavel, and up to a late hour the bereaved widow was kept in ignorance of her loss, as it was feared that the announcement would be fatal to her, as she is near her 'accoushement'. The deceased has shown no symptons of mental aberration, and the only supposition as to the cause of his committing the dreadful deed is that he was is that he was disappointed in an effort to obtain an appointment."

He married Leonara Anne Clavell 12 Oct 1836 at Falmouth, Con. Children:
