Added December 2012:
Edith appears to have separated from Herbert between birth of Mollie in 1902 and 1911. This explains why she was not in the ‘Four generations’ photos taken in 1906.
By the 1911 census, when she was aged 28, she was in Ryde, Isle of Wight with Mollie and a surgeon Thomas THOMSON aged 50.
It is certain Edith and Mollie went to Australia soon afterwards, and brother Geoffrey followed when he had finished school.
When Mollie married there in 1924, she did so as Gladys Mary Thomson.
From this we can conclude that Edith had taken up with Thomas Thomson, and they were married in law or in effect, and Mollie took his name.

Not yet (Mar 2015) found arrival in Australia.
A Miss E M Thomson arrived Sydney from London 17 Oct 1912 on the Marmora. There was also on board a Mr Thomson (Bookseller) and his wife

Note
There was another Edith Wenham in Hastings or St Leonards-on-Sea, who married Mr Herbert Stevens on 1st Sept 1909. She was the daughter of Mr A B Wenham. In January 1902 that Edith gave a recitation at the St Saviour’s Band of Hope2337. In February she gained 2nd prize for a recitation in the same organisation.2338
